Cohorts & narratives

Cohorts are groups of Fomo users whose collective activity you track — algorithmic cohorts built from point-in-time author metrics, or your own. Narratives cluster theses by topic so you can watch attention rotate.

Algorithmic cohorts

Rebuilt from author metrics and snapshotted daily, with minimum sample sizes and at most 50 members. History uses the membership snapshot as of each moment — never today's membership.

Your own cohorts

Group any handles (“AI Builders”, 12 users) and track their collective activity, tokens and convergence. Creating cohorts needs a plan with cohorts (Pro or Team); Team cohorts can be shared with your workspace. Algorithmic cohorts are visible to everyone.

Convergence

A cohort converges on a token when at least max(3, min(5, ⌈15% of the cohort⌉)) distinct members post on it within 60 minutes — 3 for a 12-member cohort, 5 for a 50-member one, so large cohorts can still converge. Each event is recorded once per cohort, token and window and reads like: “7 / 12 users posted on $XYZ within 38 minutes”.

The Smart Cohort score (smart_cohort-v1.0) rates the best convergence in the last 24h: participation 35 pts (members / min(cohort size, 10)), time clustering 25, cohort quality 25 and rarity 15 (how unusual this co-occurrence is historically). Token scores are public, so only auto cohorts feed the Smart Cohort score; your manual cohorts stay private and drive your own convergence events and alerts. Convergence events are also delivered as cohort.convergence stream events and webhooks — for a manual cohort only to its owner (or its team, when shared).

Narratives

Each thesis is classified (narrative-v1.1) by transparent rules, in tiers. First, specific evidence: word-boundary keywords in its text (links stripped) plus the token's identity — words and ticker stems in its symbol and name (“SWORDCAT” → Meme), the token being a tokenized stock or its main pool pairing it against one (Robinhood Chain stock tokens, xStocks …) → Tokenized Stocks, a VIRTUAL pair → AI Agents, and GeckoTerminal's categories for the token. The identity counts as two keyword hits, split across its narratives. If nothing specific matches, a token launched on a memecoin launchpad (pump.fun, bonk.fun, Bags, flap.sh, a launchpad bonding curve) counts as Meme (“launchpad-born”). Ambiguous words such as “pump”, “moon”, “game” or “community” are not read in the text. Theses with no signal at all go to Other. A token's narrative is the vote of its theses up to that moment (a thesis's first narrative counts double), and every token page says which rule fired. Narrative snapshots are taken hourly: theses, authors, new authors, attention share, 24h growth, top tokens and top contributors — which feed rotation (attention-share change) and the narrative × time heatmap.

Endpoints

Example responses use illustrative values ($XYZ, example_rhea, a placeholder address) — not real tokens or authors; every field name and shape is exactly what the API returns. Long sections are collapsed as { … }.
